L-R: Cabinet Secretary in the Ministry of Public Service, Youth and Gender Affairs, Sicily Kariuki, Deputy Speaker National Assembly Joyce Laboso during the launch of the New Strategy to Strengthen the Participation of Women in Competitive Politics themed “Women in Democracy” at the Safari Park on May 8, 2017. The new strategy was released by The Ministry of Public Service, Youth and Gender in collaboration with the European Union and recommends the application of soft democracy to ensure political parties review their policies and frameworks to ensure women can meaningfully participate in elective politics.
