Public Service CS Moses Kuria meets with Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii at the County Headquarters in Eldoret to formalize a strategic partnership for youth empowerment. During the meeting on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, the leaders finalized plans to convert the county’s 13 Vocational Training Centres (VTCs) into National Youth Service (NYS) hubs. Under this “NYS-VTC Mashinani” framework, the National Government will provide instructors and modern equipment, while the County Government will enhance physical infrastructure. Following the briefing, the CS visited several sites, including Kanetik VTC (Agribusiness), Kiwato (Textile), and Sesia (Welding). Kuria noted that these centers will serve as specialized training grounds for technical skills, doubling as recruitment centers for labor export to countries like Saudi Arabia, Germany, and Australia.
